Cell study · isolated shikonin | 2015
This ingredient brings a gromwell infusion into a squalane oil base. Shikonin, a naphthoquinone studied in gromwell research, was examined in a 2015 cell study for effects on human keratinocyte and fibroblast proliferation and NF-κB signalling. The study used isolated shikonin, not infused oil or a human lip treatment.
Volufiline combines hydrogenated polyisobutene with Anemarrhena root extract. Croda describes ingredient development around adipocyte differentiation, lipid storage and a fuller-looking appearance, with body-care applications. These are manufacturer descriptions of the blend, not independent clinical findings for lips or the whole herb.
Clinical observations and skin measurements | 1991
An early human study assessed changes in skin dryness after topical squalane and used skin-surface conductance to examine hydration. Higher readings were reported at treated sites. This offers evidence for an emollient role, not for lip-line reduction or lip plumping.
Ingredient manufacturer documentation · Lucas Meyer Cosmetics
Lucas Meyer Cosmetics identifies swertiamarin extracted from Indian gentian leaves as its botanical origin. Its technical description focuses on keratinocyte growth-factor signalling and epidermal renewal, with vertical-line appearance and lipstick migration among its development targets. These are manufacturer descriptions of the standardized ingredient, not the whole plant.
Obtained from jojoba seeds and composed predominantly of long-chain wax esters rather than the triglycerides typical of botanical oils. It provides surface slip and softness. Human Raman research examined its distribution in the stratum corneum and occlusion on skin, rather than on lips.
44-person randomized double-blind study | Facial skin | 2019
A 12-week study compared bakuchiol and retinol creams. Both groups showed reductions in facial wrinkle area and hyperpigmentation; the retinol group reported more scaling and stinging. Application frequency differed. This concerned facial skin, not lips; isolated bakuchiol is not interchangeable with the whole herb or an infused oil.
A conditioning, oil-rich texture with a soft, cushioned feel.
The mood
Bare lips, a favourite dress, a last look in the mirror. A small finishing touch for your evening.
Let the lips catch the light
The Royal Glaze is designed around a glossy finish and an oil-rich, cushioned feel. Its place in a look is simple: a little reflected light, with the lips as the focal point.
Your kind of evening
Pair it with a pared-back look or your favourite evening makeup. The mood is expressive and sensual, with the emphasis on the look of the lips. It is a cosmetic finishing touch.
Build the look a little at a time
Start with a thin layer on clean lips, then adjust to the finish you prefer. Check and reapply as needed after eating or drinking. The 5ml format has a place in a small makeup bag; use only on the external lips and avoid irritated or broken skin.
